Michael's Birthday!

Well...another year older, another year...better? Michael celebrated turning another year older on September 5th. I decided to surprise him by taking him for a day at the pier...Navy Pier in Chicago! He always regretted never riding the giant Ferris Wheel there. So, we headed down at noon for a day of site seeing and having fun.

The day started out sunny and beautiful until we got to the pier. A strange fog clung only to the pier. Wish I had photos, but that would have been difficult. The fog eventually burned off and the day was full of sunshine. We walked the pier, had a cocktail and enjoyed watching people from everywhere. We had a wonderful lunch at Riva, took a lakefront skyline boat tour and, yes, we road the Ferris Wheel!

To complete the day, I took Michael to see "Cirque Shanghai." These Chinese acrobats were AMAZING! They did things that no human should be able to do with their bodies. It was a great show.Michael had a great time. We talked about how much fun it will be to come back with our son and see everything for the first time (again) through his eyes! Or course...then there was the most unusal site of the day...from the boat...a yacht with a stripper pole installed on the stern and a "lady" (ahem) working it. Michael turned to me quickly and asked if SHE was part of his birthday gift. Funny, funny man. Yeah...good family times at Navy Pier.
